My Journey Into Cyberspace

The recent economic turmoil on both sides of the Atlantic have not left me unscratched although I had realized that I needed to insulate myself from spasmodic economic uncertainty several years ago. Just when you thought the economic boom and bust cycles that plagued the nineties were a thing of the past, it was quite a shock to see people having genuine concern about their immediate future. The recent intervention by various western governments to try to steady the nerves of the markets though laudable, I am inclined to believe that no government can truly influence the economic cycle despite the fact that every government likes to make its citizens believe that it can. The world is a much smaller place these days and it doesn’t take much to make the markets jittery.

I finally decided a few months ago that it was time to take the plunge and look for new challenges and opportunities. The idea of establishing a business online appealed to me because of the potential for the internet to grow exponentially over the next few years. Secondly, the relative low cost to setup an online business even made it more attractive. Imagine running a fully automated business working for you 24/7, all you have to do is ensure your systems are working well. Sadly, life is not always that simple as I had no knowledge of how to do business on the internet although I had been buying stuff off it for years.

I did have experience with multi level marketing (MLM) and one of things I have learnt over the last few weeks is that no knowledge is wasted and skills from one business are usually transferable to another. The best advice I can offer anyone considering running a home based business is to focus on trying to help people and solve their problems. This may sound very fundamental but it is easily forgotten. If you can remember this simple fact it will bring you more success than the one who possessed all the technical skills in the world. Why is that the case? The reason is because most people are like you and I they haven’t the foggiest idea how things work and all they want is someone who can fulfill their need.
